EXPERIENCE
Stephen Ouellette has been practicing law and trying cases in
state and federal courts and before administrative agencies for over 20 years
representing fishermen, individuals, small businesses and insurance
companies. He has litigated at the trial
level and before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Courts and federal
appellate courts in the First, Second, Third and Fourth Circuits. His practice includes significant personal
injury cases, both maritime and land based from both plaintiff and defense perspectives. A strong advocate for the commercial fishing
industry, Stephen Ouellette, since 1994, has regularly attended fishery
management meetings and comments on proposed rulemaking. He frequently submits comments to ensure
regulatory fairness in fisheries law enforcement and proper administration and
implementation of the fisheries conservation measures to ensure the viability
of commercial fishing interests providing guidance to legislators and
Congressional Committees. He provides
guidance to maritime and shore based businesses.
Significant cases include
major products liability cases, wrongful death (sinkings
of the F/V ITALIAN GOLD and F/V STARBOUND), major motor vehicle accidents,
insurance disputes arising from fire losses, insurance coverage issues, major
construction contract disputes, etc…
